Congratulations on completing the 2016 Summer Term!


My Clinical Plan

We are pleased to announce that FNU has released the first phase of My Clinical Plan, which can be found when you log in to Banyan Tree portal and click My Profile.  This is our first step in delivering more transparency to Students into the clinical planning and credentialing processes.  Please know this is the initial version. My Clinical Plan will include more features and information as the university continues to make improvements. If you have questions, please see our recent knowledge article or schedule an appointment with your Credentialing Coordinator.

First Annual CHI PI STTI Sunset Glow Walk and Talk

for Charity!

Hello everyone!

Please join us for the First Annual CHI Pi STTI Sunset Glow Walk and Talk for Charity!

Put on your walking shoes! On October 20th STTI's Chi PI chapter will be hosting their First Annual Sunset Glow Walk and Talk for Charity!

Enjoy a chat with friends, family, faculty and staff while supporting The Pantry at Big Creek Missions. The Pantry serves over 800 local families!

This feature event will occur at the Leslie County High School track at 8:30 pm on Thursday October 20th! Feel free to wear and/or bring items that glow in the dark! Some items will be provided!

Walk a mile or more if you wish!

The cost to join this fun, relaxing event will be only $10.00 (cash only, please) OR two non-perishable food items!

Come join the fun! Support the local Leslie County community while you are in town for Faculty Meeting! Bring your friends and relatives!

If you can't make it for the walk, the Chi PI Chapter of STTI will still accept any non-perishable food items or money that you wish to donate. You may bring any donations to the STTI table at the graduation ceremony. All proceeds will go directly to support The Pantry at Big Creek Missions.

Welcome Kathleen Halcomb!!

Kathleen Halcomb is scheduled to begin working with us on September 12th as a Regional Clinical Faculty member. Kathleen received her Post Grad., Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from Georgia Southern Univeristiy. Her certifications include, Family Nurse Practitioner Certification, American Nurses Association and BCLS: Course C. Kathleen currently provides health care at the White House Rural Community Clinic in Richmond, Kentucky.

DNP 19 Final Presentation Schedule

Please join us this week as DNP students in class 19 complete their final presentations, highlighting their DNP Projects. We are very excited to see their work and learn from their experiences. The students have worked incredibly hard to get to this place with help and support from their Chair, Content Expert, Faculty and Family.

Summer 2016 Course Evaluations are now available!

Summer 2016 Course Evaluations are now open in Tk20. Students can access the course evaluations by logging into the FNU Portal page, selecting Tk20 located under APPS. The last day to complete a course evaluation is September 19, 2016. Course evaluation results will be available to faculty on September 20. 


Frontier Nursing University celebrates National Midwifery Week with 2nd Annual Digital Summit

National Midwifery Week is in October, and one of the ways Frontier Nursing University is celebrating is by hosting an exciting Digital Summit dedicated to nurse-midwifery. From October 1-7, the "Let Our Stories Move You to Answer the Call" virtual event will explore the experiences and stories of Certified Nurse-Midwives who are passionate leaders committed to better care for women and families. All sessions are free and easy to join. We hope you’ll join us!

Welcome Jennifer McCourt!!

Meri "Jennifer" McCourt is scheduled to begin working with us on September 12th as a Regional Clinical Faculty member. Jennifer is a Fronter graduate and Family Nurse Practitioner in a Family practice clinical setting. Her affiliations include Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Student Kudos

On September 28, Alison Tinker, CNEP class 145, will be an oral presenter at The International Marcé Society's Biennial Conference in Melbourne, Australia. The Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health is an international scientific association formed to advance the understanding, prevention and treatment of the mental health of women, their infants and partners around the time of childbirth.

Alison's presentation is on The Effect of Childhood Sexual Abuse on Women During their Childbearing Year.

 Featured Preceptor

Congratulations to Starla Leete, CNM, on being our featured preceptor this summer! Starla is a 2003 graduate of Frontier with certificates in both Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health Care. Ms. Leete was nominated by former student, Mandi Lew, with whom she is now partnered with at Health Dimensions Clinic. Please read the full story here

Welcome Cathy Cook!

Cathy is scheduled to begin working with us as a Regional Clinical Coordinator on August 17th. She completed her certificate in Nurse-Midwifery through the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing (FSMFN) CNEP curriculum. Concurrently earned an MSN through the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She was the Student Council Representative at FSMFN and Coordinator of Mi-Amiga mentoring program. Cathy was the recipient of the Kitty Ernst Scholarship at FSMFN. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and Illinois Chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives.


Welcome Kimberly Sniffen!

Kimberly completed her Post Masters Certificate in Midwifery with Frontier Nursing University in 2003 and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2010. Currently she is a Certified Nurse Midwife at Duke University Medical Center and the Assistant Medical Director at the Hope for Haiti Foundation. Kimberly will begin her employment with Frontier on August 16th. 


Welcome Maria Mock!

Maria received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University. Additional teaching experience includes Preceptor for Frontier Nursing University Midwifery students. Maria will begin her employment with Frontier on August 17th.
